If you have not read any of Don Miller's work I would encourage you to let his new book be your first read and your will quickly become a fan of all of his work.
He has a dry humor that is contagious and will make you laugh out loud while reading his books.
He is able to weave a narrative together that will melt all hearts to listen to the cry of their personal desires and longings.
In his newest release, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life he explores his personal story over the last few years and narrates to his reader what it means to live a life filled with purpose.
To summarize the author's note at the beginning of the book; he ask do you go to watch a movie about a man who has a desire to buy a Volvo and then once he has bought the car drives it off the show room floor? We would never go to such a movie or cry during a movie of that nature. So why in the world are most of us living a life that is filled with numerous stories of us going to buy Volvo's?
We desire good books, good movies, and good stories because somewhere within us personally we know that we are the character of the story, but we have been caught by a sea of comfort and contentment, so we continue to watch movies and read books hoping that we will experience life through the character of a good story.
Get this book and see what it means for you personally to start living as a main character in a movie or a good book. Once you finish the book you will be inspired to create a more meaningful narrative for your personal life.
And yes, like any good book you will laugh out loud, you will probably cry, and you will be overcome with a sense of joy for the character in the book.
During the book you will even catch a glimpse of what it means to live a life with purpose and might be inspired to go out and do something. Know what Don Miller has been up to? Check out the Mentoring Project as he shares in his book about how this dream came about.
