Max takes the reader on a journey through the book of Acts and takes one or two key verses and builds each chapter on that particular verse. As Max puts a narrative spin on the book of Acts he draws the reader in by making a modern application out of each chapter and moves the reader forward to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ in his or her own personal journey.
Here are a few verses that he builds various chapters on:
Acts 5:1-2--the story about Annanias and Sapphira selling their land and not being honest about what they sold.
Acts 8:36-37--"See here is water. What hinders me from being baptized? Then Phillip said, If you believe with all your heart, you may."
Acts 12:5--" But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him."
There is a great discussion guide at the end of the book with several questions and applications to put one's faith out on the front line. You could use this book in many settings; personal or even a small group Bible study.
The early church lived with such great passion and changed the world. What would happen if we had the same courage to change the world for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not about us out living our life, it is about making a difference so that the message of Jesus Christ will continue to change hearts and relationships that glorify the Father.
