Is Less More?

Back in my days of working in the oil field (during my teenage days in the summer) I remember my first lesson in the "less is more" mentality. Not to labor you with the story but,  I was sweeping and mopping the shop floor one day and one of the co-workers simply walked up to me and stated "less is more." And he went on to state that if I would use less water when mopping I would actually be more efficient. That was the first time I recall hearing "less is more" and that has stuck with me ever since.

This concept has been around forever, but most of us are extremely bad at doing less for more and we have a tendency to think and do more instead of the opposite.

Here is a quote that got me started on this today.
"Something counter-intuitive about growth: You have to do less if you want to grow more. And if you do more, chances are you will grow less." Andy Stanley
This applies to many facets of our life. What would you like to grow in? Where can you do less of something else?  What about the churches we worship at and work in: What do we need to do less of? Where would we like to grow?

And why do we resist doing less for more?
