When was the last time you received news that shocked you in disbelief?
Today 67 years ago President Franklin Roosevelt addressed the nation after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and said Pearl Harbor was "a day that will live in infamy."
Shocking news is neither good nor bad, but news one did not truly expect.
When Zechariah in Luke 1 went into the temple to finish the incense and offering he was not expecting to meet the very presence of God. Nor was he planning on leaving the temple and not being able to speak for about 9 months.
Zechariah and Elizabeth was a family of God who had faithfully been praying about having a child and could not figure out why she was barren. God had plans for them to have a child, but they did not expect their child to be the one who would prepare the way for the redemption of Israel.
They allowed the living, moving presence of God to permeate all plans, all ideas, and all priorities in their lives. Their encounter transformed their rituals and burnt offerings from theory into a realization that God is living and active.
Are you allowing the moving presence of God to permeate all plans, all ideas, and all priorities in your life to be transformed for His glory?
