
Ok, it is Labor Day weekend and I am not going camping, fishing, hiking, or to the beach like many people this weekend. I may turn the grill on in the backyard or get the smoker going for some Texas BBQ.
In honor of those of you going camping or those who will be cooking via a campfire anytime in the near future I wanted to share a few tips from a trip a while back.
Jessica and I decided to go to Zion National Park last year for an overnight trip and go fishing the following morning at Kolob Reservoir. Here is what I learned about camp cooking;
Being a camp cook is fun.
Being a camp cook requires planning.
Being a camp cook requires cooking lessons that don't happen in your backyard or behind the stove.
Being a camp cook is more than looking at what is the pantry grabbing it and going.
You may think it sounds good, but stop and think before you really cook it.
So on our trip I cooked some link sausage with some cream of mushroom for dinner. Let's just say that I was not thinking.
