It Happened in Italy

Possibly chose the wrong book to review for Thomas BRB for the wrong reasons. I am not a huge history buff, but I was looking forward to gaining a different perspective about the Holocaust, one that was filled with hope and not despair. The narrative that Elizabeth portrayed is compelling and insightful if one would like to read a different piece of Holocaust history. It Happened in Italy is a book designed and written for anyone who likes Holocaust history. For me the narrative did not read well. That does not mean that the narrative is not important and interesting. It reads as if she is talking to me not writing a convincing piece of literature. Read this book to find hope in the midst a chaotic time in history. Laced with personal interviews, photography, and Elizabeth's personal journey to know "this" story makes for a decent book for Holocaust enthusiast. This book should remind us all to embrace conflict in our lives or others lives as we try to figure a way to give hope when faced with circumstances or situations that seem unbearable.
