Wrestling with Disappointment

Never have been a wrestler, nor do I really know anything about wrestling.

However, that does not mean that I never have hit the mat hard and had to deal with the humility of disappointment of being "less than."

The disappointments come in various forms throughout our life.

Most of the time we pick ourselves up off the mat and keep on going and never stop and think about what the disappointment means to our soul.

Here are three questions to wrestle with disappointments in your life:
  1. What is one of the greatest relational disappointments you have experienced?
  2. What were you looking for in that relationship to satisfy you?
  3. How has that period or journey in your life shaped your perspective on current relationships?
All relationships will have an element of disappointment, but through wrestling with significant relational disappointments, this process begins to point us towards a deeper more meaningful relationship with the only One who can satisfy our every need.
