Does knowledge equal salvation?

Today I was reading and recording flash card information onto my computer to make an MP3 to help prepare for the Marriage and Family License test I will take sometime in 2009. I have enjoyed gaining knowledge and realize today the lack of knowledge I have that one needs to be an adequate counselor. To often we get enamored with knowing information that we can often forget what really matters. Besides 40% of change in a counseling office happens not because of what a counselor knows, but because of the relationship and rapport the therapist can establish; known in counseling terms as joining.

I desire knowledge that will pierce the heart and transform lives. Through Bible study and reflection tonight God revealed how we tend to lean upon our own understanding and not the truths of God. There are important theological truths we must wrestle, however lives are not changed by possessing the "right" knowledge, but possessing the only knowledge that matters through and in Jesus Christ. Here are a few versus to reflect on in your personal study. Col. 3:10, Col. 2:3, Eph. 2:23, Col. 1:10. This is not a complete reference, but our knowledge is not dependent on getting things together. We have a Savior and Redeemer who came to set things right by dieing on the cross and we are called to reflect the knowledge of Christ who brings salvation and transformation to all men. This is the only knowledge which brings salvation, not a mere earthly knowledge, but heavenly knowledge.
