Same Ole Stuff

Today I stopped to get some gum at the convenient store not because I wanted gum, but I had some kickin dragon breath. I enjoy trying new things in life, but I am often disappointed. Today was no different. I got Wrigley's Flare Cinnamon gum thinking I would enjoy cinnamon gum since I never chew cinnamon gum. This morning I actually had cinnamon with my oatmeal, so I guess I was in a cinnamon mood. My mother always got Big Red gum and I never was a fan of Big Red, for the simple fact Big Red never retained its flavor beyond a few minutes. Guess what. Flare is Big Red in a new package. Same Ole chewing gum my mother always got at the convenient store, just different packaging.
If you try to market the same ole stuff with a different packaging odds are you will fail. The product is not new. You have not made a transformation on the inside you have simply repackaged a product that has been around the block. We cannot try to pretend we are something we are not by repackaging the outside (clothes, cars, etc.). Change and transformation starts on the inside. No matter what you are working on (yourself, job, church, ministry, addiction, etc.) change cannot be another facade, change must be a transformation and renewing on the inside (Romans 12:1-2).
