Last night I had a relaxing evening by smoking two whole chickens. This has slowly become a hobby of mine since Jessica bought me a barrel style smoker for our wedding 4 years ago. I will admit I am in the learning process. The learning process is half the enjoyment. The other half is having your house smell like BBQ smoke the next several days. Many people do not smoke nor will they ever take the endeavor on. Smoking meat takes time and patience. I have found a BBQ sauce I truly enjoy until I figure out how to make my own of course, but if you are in the market for a good Texas style BBQ sauce look at Stubbs.
BBQ and life are similar. Both take time and patience while you are on the journey. To cultivate the right smoked meat and to cultivate a life worth living the principle is the same; love.
Slow down to love others more fully. Then go eat some BBQ. Or you could slow down by loving others to take them out for some BBQ. Either way, slow down to love. (Thanks Dad for taking us to Sean's in Decatur over the holidays.)
