Today I was ironing several shirts to prepare for the week ahead. In the past when I would iron I would often get frustrated that the shirt would never turn out like I wanted it to, especially the sleeves. Ironing a shirt one has to realize that all of the wrinkles will not come out. However, you press a shirt so it will look good and have fresh appearance. As soon as you sit in the car some aspect of the shirt will get wrinkled, possibly the area were the seat belt goes and for sure the back of the shirt.
God allowed this afternoon to be a brief teachable moment about His grace. We often try hard to be the right Christian. We try to interpret the Bible the right way to be approved by God. We even try to look good for God on Sunday morning by wearing the pressed shirt. No matter what we do or how hard we try we will not get all things right, lined up or pressed out in our life. Thanks be to God and His marvelous love for us we will be saved by grace, not the ironed shirt we wore or did not wear to church.
Wow...Maybe you should write a book?
