Generation to Generation

What does passing on a legacy mean? How do you raise your children to grow in the Lord? What happens when we do not have plans to leave a God glorifying legacy to those who follow us? Judges 2:10 says, "After that a whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel."

Our nephew, Braxton has been here in Las Vegas since Tuesday and we have done more in one week than what could be imagined. This is a picture from hiking at Mt Charleston as he was leading the way up the mountain I was thinking about what a joy and pleasure it is that we get to spend a week with him. I have been moved to tears several times since he has been with us. We have been praying together and talking about the wonders of God together. The first meal he prayed at he said, "Thanks for our food and please God give food to those who do not have any." Wow! Someone is talking about the impact of global poverty and his prayers are a reflection of what is being taught at home.  Then in the car on the way home from Red Rock he started singing a Christian song that was on the radio. Passing on a God glorifying legacy takes time and energy. Deuteronomy 6:7 talks about four different times throughout the day one is to talk with their child about the wonders of God. My fear is that we have many families who are not taking this time and we have only a few who are devoted to passing on the story of Christ to the next generation. Are you talking about the wonders of God with the next generation?
